Representatives of countries across the world will gather Thursday to participate in a special meeting of the OECD Committee on Fiscal Affairs on the base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) project.

The meeting will take place in Kyoto, Japan on June 30-July 1, 2016, and will mark a new era in international tax policy making, as a broad range of countries representing varying levels of development will come together for the first time with OECD members and G-20 countries to address BEPS on an equal footing in the OECD’s Committee on Fiscal Affairs.

By participating in the decision-making as well as the technical working groups, these countries will now have a direct influence in shaping the international tax rules.

The meeting will feature senior officials including Taro Aso, Japan’s Finance Minister; Masatsugu Asakawa, Chair of the OECD’s Committee on Fiscal Affairs, Vice Minister of Finance; and Pascal Saint-Amans, Director, OECD Centre for Tax Policy and Administration.
