Mexican Government Yet To Provide COVID-19 Tax Breaks

10/04/2020

The Mexican federal Government has yet to provide tax relief to businesses and individuals, although state authorities have announced their own measures.

At federal level, the State Administration of Taxation is expediting tax refunds for individuals and businesses but as yet federal tax return filing deadlines remain unchanged.

There have been proposals from lawmakers for filing and payment concessions but as yet none has been approved. Instead various states have announced their own tax administrative reliefs for taxpayers. For instance, the Mexico City Government has provided vehicle tax relief and announced tax filing and payment deferrals for state administered taxpayers.
