COVID-19: Bolivia Announces Filing, Payment Deferrals

15/04/2020

Bolivia has announced a number of filing and payment extensions for taxpayers, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

For corporate tax, the filing and payment deadline in respect of the 2019 tax period is extended from April 30, 2020, to May 29, 2020. In addition if 50 percent of CIT is paid before June 1, 2020, the remaining 50 percent may be paid in three monthly instalments without the imposition of penalties or interest.

The deadline for filing VAT returns and making VAT payments in respect of February and March 2020 has been extended to May 2020. The exact day depends on the last digit of the taxpayer's tax identification number.

In addition, a zero percent rate of duty will be levied on imports of coronavirus related supplies (such as medicines and medical equipment) until December 31, 2020.

Cash donations made to hospitals, authorized by the Ministry of Health, that are dealing with coronavirus may be deducted from taxable income, subject to a maximum deduction of 10 percent of 2019 taxable income. This applies to donations made by December 31, 2020.
