Brazil Waives Duties On COVID-19-Related Imports

24/04/2020

Brazil's tax agency announced import tax cuts for certain items needed to tackle COVID-19.

Duties as high as 60 percent will be reduced to zero percent. This will apply to donations of medical supplies up to USD10,000 in value, including personal protective equipment, including the component parts needed for the production of ventilators. In addition, these goods will be exempt from the industrialized products tax, IPI, and the social security contributions PIS and COFINS.

The measure was published in Official Gazette of April 16, 2020.
