Bolivian Tax Amnesty To Close June 28

19/06/2019

Bolivian taxpayers have until a twice-extended deadline of June 28, 2019, to regularize their affairs and benefit from reduced penalty rates.

Those making disclosures by that deadline may benefit from a 90 percent penalty waiver and a full waiver of interest.

Certain taxpayers will be eligible instead for a lesser 80 percent penalty waiver, where the tax owed is due to tax fraud, evasion, or other specified breaches of obligations, the tax service said.

The amnesty is available for all taxes administered by the national tax authority or customs, and businesses and individuals can apply online by filling out one of four forms.

Highlighting the upcoming deadline, the tax agency said it had received 122,977 applications from taxpayers, as of June 11. Most were sole proprietors or individuals (108,942), with only 14,035 applications received from legal entities. The amnesty has so far netted the Government BOB3.4bn (USD493m) in tax and penalties. Some taxpayers will repay their tax debt over five years, the agency said.
